The heart of the Texas Cowboy experience is found in the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District.  Once the last major stop on the Chisolm Trail, the Stockyards is now a great place to spend a fun day as a family.  Cowboys lead longhorn cattle through the stockyards during the twice-daily cattle drive, and a live rodeo is held on Friday and Saturday nights.  Our kids particularly enjoyed the mechanical bull and cattlepen maze (as seen on the Amazing Race), but the highlight of their trip was when they got to sit on a live bull for a photo.  There are also fun restaurants and shops lining the street.  We had a delicious steak at H3 Ranch, and we found our daughter the perfect pink cowgirl hat in one of the shops.
